Darlington Mowden Park failed to take points from a game for just the third time this season as Cambridge extended their winning home record. Late tries from Ollie Hodgson and Morgan Passman weren't enough to claw back a sizeable first half lead for the hosts.

The home side made the perfect start, taking the lead as Tom Hoppe profited from an interception in midfield. A Matt Minogue penalty pegged Cambridge back, but the lead was soon extended as Kwaku Asiedu raced clear after a loose DMP kick. Debutant Matthew Arden edged the hosts further ahead, before prolific hooker Ben Brownlie powered over for Cambridge's third of the half. Mowden had a couple of chances to narrow the deficit but were unable to break down a strong Cambridge defence.

Any hopes of a DMP comeback were extinguished by a quickfire brace of tries for the home side. Both came from driving mauls, as first Brownlie and then Will Priestley powered over to extend the lead to 34-3. To their credit, Mowden stuck to the task well and went in search of a late bonus point. Impressive footwork from Chris McTurk created an opportunity for Morgan Passman, with the DMP winger powering away for his 16th try of the campaign. Ollie Hodgson grabbed Mowden's second late on after a well-worked lineout, but there was no time for a third and Cambridge saw out yet another home win.

Mowden will be hoping to bounce back next weekend as they return to home soil to take on Rams. Tickets for Saturday's game at the Darlington Arena are available to buy online here.
