Following consultation with both the NCA and The RFU, the club were advised a decision had to be made prior to Coventry’s departure at 11:00 Friday, the pitch has been frozen since the weekend and with temperatures of -2 expected overnight the playing surface has been deemed unplayable.
The club are bitterly disappointed to have to call the game off for the players and supporters from both teams, for what would have been a memorable match. The club have tried every avenue possible but unfortunately the elements have beaten us in the time frame we had. Not only were the executive suites fully booked and the hospitality sold out, there were also a huge amount of children from local schools attending to enjoy the day at the arena.
Mowden Park’s National One game against Coventry will now take place on Saturday 24th February at 2pm.
DMP Sharks’ Tyrrell’s Premier 15s game will go ahead tomorrow at an alternative venue. Their game against Richmond FC Ladies will take place at Maiden Castle, Durham, kicking off at 4pm.
The club would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused to both home and away supporters tomorrow. All tickets and hospitality for the Coventry game will be automatically transferred to the rearranged fixture. For anyone wishing to be refunded, please contact the club directly on 01325 350267 from 9am on Monday 18th December. Due to the disruption caused by today’s postponement, we ask that any refund requests are held off until this date to allow our staff to contact those affected.
