Darlington Mowden Park are back in National One action on Saturday when they visit Sedgley Park. With just 5 points separating the teams, both will be hoping to climb the table with a win this weekend.
Saturday’s hosts currently occupy 9th place in the standings, having won 9 and drawn 1 of their 20 league games this season. Scott Barrow’s side were promoted from National Two North last season, and made a bright start to life in Nat 1 winning 6 of their first 8 fixtures. Sedgley Park have endured a tough run of form in the new year, but will no doubt provide a tough test for DMP this weekend. Former DMP fly half Warren Seals has been prolific for the Tigers this season, scoring a league-leading 164 points to date.
Mowden meanwhile come into Round 21 in 7th, with a 50/50 record of 10 wins and 10 losses this season. Their away form this season has been a standout, with road wins at Sale FC, Richmond, Rams and Plymouth. DMP’s last away game saw them take a bonus point in defeat against Birmingham Moseley three weeks ago.
The two sides have only met once in National One, with DMP running out 25-18 winners at the Arena in November. Tries from Callum Pascoe, Ben Frankland and Yaree Fantini helped Mowden to an important win, while a late Warren Seals penalty claimed a losing bonus point for Sedgley Park.
