Darlington Mowden Park are delighted to announce the signing of Max Davies from Green King IPA Championship side Ealing Trailfinders. The young forward joins the club ahead of the upcoming 2019/20 National One season, and will link up with his new teammates later this week as they begin their pre-season preparations.
Davies signs from Ealing after their second place finish in the Championship last season. The 21 year-old made 8 Championship appearances in 2018/19, including a short spell with Richmond FC. The former Sedbergh School lock, who can also cover back row, had previously signed senior academy terms with the Falcons in the summer of 2016, spending 2 seasons with the Falcons whilst also making 34 appearances for Tynedale. Ahead of his return to the North East, Davies said: “I’m really looking forward to being part of a club with a lot of ambition. It’s clear to me DMP has a really good set up so I’m looking forward to being a part of it and enjoying my rugby there.”
The young second row also brings international experience to the Mowden squad, having represented England throughout the age groups. Davies was a part of the England squad which won the 2017 World Rugby Under 20 Championship in Georgia, and he will be familiar with his new home ground having played at the Arena for the Under 20s against Italy in the 2017 Six Nations.
Mowden Park Forwards Coach Mark Luffman was delighted with the latest addition to the DMP pack: “It’s great for us to have Max on board. He’s a young player with lots of experience and we’re really excited for him to join the squad and add further competition in the second row.”
