A tough afternoon in the South West saw Mowden come away empty handed from their trip to Shaftesbury Park. Newly promoted Dings were clinical on the day and ran in 8 tries on the day for their third win of the season.
It was DMP who drew first blood, Harry Read slotting an early penalty to get them on the board. The lively Deago Bailey then put Dings in front, before Callum Mackenzie latched onto a loose pass in the Dings midfield to race clear and score under the posts. Read converted to put Mowden 7-10 ahead. Bailey then notched his second of the half to put the hosts in front, before Dings added another through Matt Lane. Read added a penalty to keep Mowden in touch, but a Tomos Gwilliam crossed before the interval to make the score 22-13 at the break.
Louie Trevett edged the Crusaders further clear shortly after the half, but Mowden responded with a fourth try of the season from Ben Douglas following a quick tap. Read converted once more, but that was as good as it got for DMP as the home side ran in three late tries to draw clear in the final stages.
Mowden now head into a rest weekend and will hope to welcome back some more bodies when they return to the Arena on Saturday 9th November to face Leicester Lions.
