Darlington Mowden Park are thrilled to announce that Lee Dickson has joined the club as 1st XV Assistant Coach. The former England scrum half brings a wealth of expertise and experience to the role, and has already linked up with the DMP coaching team this week.
Asked about his new role, Dickson commented: “I’m really looking forward to working with this group of players who have had a positive start to the season. Mowden already have a great coaching group and I’m excited to become part of the coaching team this season.”
The 37 year-old will combine his coaching at DMP with his current role as Head of Rugby at Barnard Castle School, where he has worked since his retirement from rugby in 2019. Dickson’s playing career spanned 15 years including 18 international caps and over 300 appearances at club level for Newcastle Falcons, Northampton Saints and Bedford Blues.
Asked about the latest addition to his coaching staff, DMP Director of Rugby Garry Law added: “We’re really pleased that Lee has come on board with the coaching team. He is a perfect fit for the club and has obviously played at the highest level and has bags of energy and enthusiasm that I'm sure will only be good for our squad moving forward. It's another voice, set of eyes and new ideas who can help try and get the best from the team across the board.”
“Having been involved this last week he has already made a positive impact within the squad. Having played briefly with Lee as a teenager I am now looking forward to working together closely in a coaching capacity.”
On behalf of everyone at DMP we’d like to welcome Lee to the club and wish him all the best for the season.
