Round 6 sees Darlington Mowden Park go in search of their first win of the National One season when they visit Esher. This weekend's hosts are also hoping to clinch their opening victory of the campaign, setting up an important clash at Molesey Road.
Esher return to the third tier after bouncing straight back up from National Two last season. The Surrey-based side saw off strong challenges from Barnes and Dorking to clinch the National Two East title, and secure a return to National One for 2024/25. They've endured a difficult start to the season, facing 4 of the 5 teams that DMP have taken on so far. Both sides have faced Rams, Rotherham, Rosslyn Park and Richmond in the opening 5 weeks, all of whom sit in the top 8 places as it stands. Last weekend saw Esher fall to a 44-26 defeat at Rosslyn Park, gaining a try bonus point in the process to edge ahead of DMP in the table.
Previewing Saturday's game, DMP Director of Rugby Garry Law said: "In no game have we had an 80 minute performance, we'd struggle to say that we've had a 50 minute game. So this is something we will be trying our best to focus on. We need to have ambition, skill set and physicality for a full 80 minutes to give ourselves a chance. The opening 30 against Blackheath was very positive and we will be tapping in to this for motivation and confidence going into what is already a very important game against Esher this weekend."
