Match Preview - Sedgley Park (H)

Mowden return to the Arena on Saturday in Round 13 (3pm Kick Off).

Darlington Mowden Park are back at the Arena for their final home game of 2024 on Saturday. They host northern rivals Sedgley Park, who themselves will be hoping to round off the year with a positive result on the road.

This weekend's visitors currently sit in 11th spot in the National One standings, after winning 3 of their opening 12 fixtures. They come into the game on the back of an impressive 28-0 win over high flying Rosslyn Park on Saturday, with all of their wins this season coming at home so far.

Mowden enter Round 13 after a tough away loss at Plymouth Albion last time out in torrid conditions on the south coast. Garry Law's side had trailed 24-0 at the interval but came back to almost clinch a losing bonus point after playing with the wind at their backs in the second half.

Last season saw Mowden do the double over Sedgley, with two closely fought wins. The Tigers' last trip to the Arena ended in a 25-18 win for DMP last November, before a memorable away win at Park Lane in March of this year.

A win on Saturday could see Mowden close the gap to the teams above them to just 5 points, setting up an important game at the Arena.

Around the League

After edging the clash of the top 2 last Friday, league leaders Richmond host third placed Rotherham in a big game at the RAG, while second placed Rams visit Rosslyn Park who sit in fourth. With the league's top 4 all facing each other, it's a chance for the chasing back to close the gap on the front runners. Blackheath, Moseley and Plymouth could all climb into the top 4 if results go their way this weekend, but Blackheath are the only team of the trio to face a home game as they host Leicester. Moseley travel to the North West to face Sale FC, while Plymouth Albion make the trip to Esher. Elsewhere Dings host Bishop's Stortford, who have climbed to 8th after three consecutive wins in recent weeks.
