DMP's difficult start to the season continued on Saturday as Rosslyn Park took maximum points from their trip to the North East. Garry Law's side were in the game at the break, before the visitors pulled clear with 4 second half tries.
The first half was a low scoring affair, with only 15 points scored in the opening 40. It was the away side who opened the scoring on 11 minutes through Ewan Fenley, before Charlie Walker sprinted clear 10 minutes later to give Rosslyn Park a 0-12 lead early on. Mowden then began to grow into the game, and a Josh Ree penalty got them on the board shortly before the break after Jack Digby was shown yellow for a high tackle.
A second Ree penalty brought the gap down to 6 after the interval, but Theo Manihera pounced on a loose ball in midfield to stretch Rosslyn Park's advantage. The Manihera try came at a key stage in the game, and the visitors showed their clinical side to put the game to bed with a brace of tries from replacement hooker Jasper Cameron punctuated by a score from former DMP fly half Josh Bragman on his return to the Arena. Mowden kept at it though, and had some reward late on when Shaun McCartney finished a nicely constructed attack on the left wing.
Another frustrating afternoon for the hosts, who'll dust themselves down and go in search of their first win of the campaign on Saturday when they visit Blackheath.
