Darlington Mowden Park took maximum points from their trip to the Athletic Ground after a season-best performance on the road. Garry Law's side ran in 5 tries for a welcome away win, heading into the final game of the first block of fixtures this weekend.

Mowden made a bright start, and opened the scoring after just 10 minutes. Captain Will Jones was the scorer, diving over after a midfield break from Ollie Walker. The lead was doubled on the 20 minute mark when Ollie Hodgson burrowed over, and a third try soon followed when Callum Mackenzie cut a sharp line through the Richmond defence. Josh Ree converted all three to give DMP a 21 point lead after just 25 minutes. The bonus point try soon followed, as DMP showed their cutting edge once more when Charlie Smith finished smartly in the left corner. This secured Mowden's first bonus point of the season, before a well worked try for Richmond's Toby Saysell narrowed the gap on the eve of half time. 5-26.

A cagey start to the second half saw Mowden defend strongly, with some tireless work from the DMP forwards. Mowden were reduced to 14 when Joe Craggs was sent to the bin, and Richmond capitalised through Ntinga Mpiko who powered over from close range. Alex Burrage converted, but a penalty from the boot of Josh Ree topped up the DMP lead on the hour mark. A try from Jake Caddy narrowed the gap to 12 with just 15 minutes to play. The game was put to bed on 75 minutes when Harry Yates powered over in the corner, stretching DMP's advantage to 17 heading into the final minutes. Joe Craggs was shown a second yellow late on, with a second try from Jake Caddy securing a bonus point for the hosts.

Alfie Barron was DMP's Man of the Match after a tireless performance, and in truth the award could have gone to a host of DMP players in what was a standout team showing in both attack and defence.

Richmond now travel North to face Sale FC in Round 7, while Mowden return to the Arena to face Birmingham Moseley. Please note Saturday's game kicks off at the earlier time of 2.15pm, with tickets available to buy online here.
