With the night before backdrop of Ireland v South Africa our players and parents arrived pitch-side full of excitement and anticipation. Guests , Hartlepool Rovers, travelled with great numbers , new kit and an appetite for action.
First team player, Joe Craggs, was our guest of honour and he joined us for the now customary first game of the season match shirt presentation. Joe then inspired the squad reminding them that rugby provides life time friendships.
We played a round robin of two games. The score lines for each being very close. The coaches were extremely proud at how the team responded to the new challenge of tackling. We had a lot of bumps and bangs which were met with resilience and endeavour. Our passing and support lines are improving but will continue to be a training focus.
Post match hot dogs in the club house were followed by recognition development rewards based on the RFU values. Teamwork - Hugo P, Enjoyment - Ted, Sportsmanship- Zac, Respect - Alfred, Discipline - Billy.
Kian then led the squad in a raucous rendition of Tikki Tonga. In all an amazing weekend of rugby.
