DMP Durham Sharks are delighted to confirm that Kenny Thomas will captain the side for their 2020/21 Allianz Premier 15s campaign. The Canadian will lead the side for the second season running, and Thomas was thrilled to continue in the role: "I am delighted and honoured to retain my role as club captain at DMP Durham Sharks this year. It is a privilege to compete in one of the top domestic leagues for women’s rugby, let alone captain my club."

Versatile back Thomas was an integral part of the squad last season, appearing in all but one of the Shark's Premier 15s fixtures. Asked about the upcoming campaign, she added: "With last season being cut short, it has been a long build to our first 2020/21 fixture. The squad is raring to go and we don’t have much longer to wait. We aim to do the North proud!"

DMP Durham Sharks Performance Manager Gordon Brett commented: “I’ve been very impressed with Kenny since I’ve arrived. She has an amazing ability to bring everyone together. She’s an international player and leads both by example and how she speaks to the group."

Thomas will be supported in her role by four vice captains; Amy Orrow, George Roberts, Lisa Cockburn and Beth Blacklock. Asked about the leadership group in the squad, Brett added: "This team is full of leaders and with the likes of Amy, George, Lisa and Beth alongside her as Vice-Captains, there is plenty of leadership in this group."
